Max. size:  16 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  Africa: Endemic to Lake Malawi.
Diagnosis:  Description: pharyngeal dentition finer than in similarly shaped Otopharynx argyrosoma (Ref. 55954). Coloration: lappets yellow (Ref. 55954).
Biology:  Found in shallow sandy habitat at a depth of about 10 m. Feeds from the silty layer on the sand, on small soft invertebrates (Ref. 5595) and on planktonic and benthic algae (Ref. 267).
