Max. size:  7 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater; brackish; marine, anadromous
Distribution:  Asia: Ariake Sea, Kyushu Island, Japan.
Diagnosis:  Vertebrae: 52-56
Biology:  Inhabits the tidal areas of the rivers above the salt front, 16-20 km upstream from the river mouth and sometimes found in areas with low seawater concentrations (Ref. 37303). Planktivorous fish. Feed on calanoid copepod, Sinocalanus sinensis which is the most dominant prey item; cyclopoids, Daphniasp. and decapod mysid (Ref. 57041).
