Max. size:  10.3 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  South America: Suriname, Saramacca, Oyapock, Approuague, Comté, and Sinnamary River basins.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Found mainly in rapidly flowing waters, sympatric with Astyanax abramoides. The two are difficult to distinguish (Ref. 12225).
