Family:  Platytroctidae (Tubeshoulders)
Max. size:  24.9 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathypelagic; marine; depth range 1000 - 1450 m
Distribution:  Eastern Atlantic: in tropical and southern subtropical (8°33'S, 12°35'E) waters. Indian Ocean: including the Tasman Sea (Ref. 4461). One record from the North Atlantic (Ref. 6598). Western Pacific (Ref. 6993).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 18-21; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 16-18
