Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; brackish
Distribution:  Europe and Asia: southern and western Caspian Sea river systems; Kura-Aras river watershed.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Most fish are mature on the 6th-8th year. Large females may have about 1,259,000 eggs. Spawning begins at the end of April, peaks in June and ends in August (Ref. 1441)
