Distribution:  South America: Maroni River basin.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Adults live upstream, in creeks where there is an alternating zone of swift rapids and canals with deeper calm waters. They occur in the company of Leporinus granti (Ref. 12225). Distinct pairs breed on densely grown weedy places (Ref. 205).
