Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Africa: Endemic to Lake Tanganyika.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Usually solitary, are rock-dwellers and do not roam the wide open sandy bottoms. L. profundicola lives deeper than L. elongatus or L. kendalli and is seldom found near the surface. Carnivorous, feeds on fish (Ref. 6770, 54948).
