Distribution:  Africa: endemic to the Akagera River system in Rwanda and Burundi (Ref. 27626).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 4-4; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-9; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 5-5
Biology:  Found in papyrus swamps and ditches (Ref. 80296). Inhabits permanent rivers (Ref. 4967).
