Distribution:  South America: Rio Araranguá, rio Mampituba and rio Tramandaí basins in Brazil.
Diagnosis:  Vertebrae: 41-42
Biology:  This species is often associated with clear water, rocky bottom, and small current streams and rivers in the middle and upper portions of three drainages (the rio Araranguá, rio Mampituba and rio Tramandaí basins) and has never been found in lagoons or surroundings swamps of the coastal plain (Ref. 104908).
