Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  South America: Eastern Brazilian coastal drainage: ParaĆ­ba do Sul basin.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 1-1; Dorsal soft rays (total): 7-7; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 5-5. Dorsal series of plates reduced, with no plates in the dorsal series between the dorsal-fin origin and the end of the adipose fin; both teeth cusps approximately equal in size (Ref. 42856).
Biology:  Found in a small, shallow stream, with clear water and moderate to strong current. Bottom formed by rocks, loose stones and gravel. Forest and grass usually present on the margins (Ref. 45132).
