Max. size:  14.8 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; depth range 2 - 11 m
Distribution:  Africa: Lake Victoria.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits the littoral zones over both firm and soft substrates (Ref. 4983). Since the dentition and jaw structure of H. microdon so closely resemble those of H. parvidens, the feeding habits of the two species may well be similar (Ref. 558).
