Distribution:  Asia and Oceania: New Guinea.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 5-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-10; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 19-22
Biology:  Inhabits swampy lagoons, lakes and small side channels of large rivers (Ref. 2847). The only known floodplain dwelling rainbowfish. Carnivorous, feeds mainly on small invertebrates taken from mid-water or from surface water (Ref. 46864).
