Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  South America: Amazon River basin, in the Xingu River from Cachoeira von Martius to Belo Monte, and in the Curuá River basin.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  This fish is a substrate spawner and is becoming well established in the aquarium trade (Ref. 12251).
