Family:  Pentanchidae (Deepwater catsharks)
Max. size:  34 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathydemersal; marine; depth range 290 - 470 m
Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific: northern Australia.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 0-0; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 0-0. Bold saddle markings on body and precaudal tail, but without dark markings on the terminal and hypural caudal-fin lobes (Ref. 11146).
Biology:  A rare, little-known bottom-dwelling catshark found on the uppermost continental slopes (Ref. 11146). Mode of reproduction unknown (Ref. 11146).
