Max. size:  17 cm TL (male/unsexed); 14.15 cm SL (female)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 5 - 40 m,
Distribution:  Western Pacific: Indonesia.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 11-11; Dorsal soft rays (total): 24-25; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 18-19. Description: Characterized by mainly brown color with black upper head and bright yellow bar intermediately behind head; yellow-orange dorsal and anal fins, brown basally, posterior margin narrow blue; last few anal rays covered by conspicuous black spot; dorsal rays XI,24-25; anal rays II,18-19; pectoral rays 15-16; total gill rakers on first brachial arch 14-18; tubed lateral line scales 56-65; extremely long and slender snout, 2.6-3.2 in SL; tiny gape, 3.5-8.3 in eye diameter; finely ctenoid scales on head and body (Ref. 90102, p. 1122). Snout length 1.5-1.6 in HL. Body depth 2.3-2.7 in SL (Ref. 90102. p. 537).
Biology:  Inhabits outer or seaward reef slopes and deep passages and channels at depths of about 5 to at least 40 m; on relatively silty reefs as well as clear waters of offshore reefs and submerged atolls. Usually in pairs (Ref. 90102).
