Family:  Percidae (Perches), subfamily: Etheostomatinae
Max. size:  6.8 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  North America: Atlantic Coastal Plain from Dismal Swamp of southern Virginia to Altamaha River drainage of Georgia in the USA.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Usually occurs near vegetation in swamps, lakes, sluggish headwaters, creeks and small rivers (Ref. 5723).
