Family:  Percidae (Perches), subfamily: Etheostomatinae
Max. size:  8.3 cm TL (male/unsexed); max. reported age: 3 years
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  North America: occurs only in west- and south-flowing tributaries of Tennessee River in central Tennessee and northern Alabama (east to Sequatchie River system) in the USA.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits fast, rocky riffles of creeks and small to medium rivers (Ref. 5723, 10294); also lives in streams (Ref. 10294). Feeds on midge, blackfly, mayfly, and caddisfly larvae (Ref. 10294).
