Family:  Macrouridae (Grenadiers or rattails)
Max. size:  38 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; marine; depth range 150 - 300 m, non-migratory
Distribution:  Western Pacific: southern Japan to East China Sea.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 2-2; Anal spines: 0-0. The head moderately large; the eyes also large; the snout pointed; head ridges not excessively spiny or coarsely developed. Grayish brown overall with vermiculations or mottling on the nape, back and upper sides; the mouth whitish; the gill cavity blackish; the fins dusky.
Biology:  Found over sandy bottoms.
