Family:  Bovichtidae (Thornfishes)
Max. size:  9.4 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 0 - 50 m
Distribution:  Southeast Pacific: Chile. Southern Ocean: Wiencke Island in the Antarctic Peninsula (Ref. 5199).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 8-8; Dorsal soft rays (total): 20-21; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 16-18; Vertebrae: 41-41. Brown body with 4 dark transverse bands on sides. Head dark, pelvic fins and first dorsal black. Soft fins with brown and whitish spots (Ref. 11892).
Biology:  Found in shallow inshore water (Ref. 5199).
