Family:  Botiidae (Pointface loaches), subfamily: Botiinae
Max. size:  25 cm NG (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  Asia: India and Bangladesh. Recorded from the Salween and Irrawaddy basin in China, adjacent to the Burmese border (Ref. 12041). Comparison with Indian topotypical specimens is needed.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Occurs in hill streams (Ref. 4832) and mainstream rivers (Ref. 58784). A carnivorous species which feeds on insect larvae and benthic organisms (Ref. 58784).
