Family:  Muraenidae (Moray eels), subfamily: Uropterygiinae
Max. size:  11.5 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 1 - 51 m
Distribution:  Western Pacific: Great Barrier Reef (Ref. 2334). Eastern Pacific: Hawaiian, Marquesas and Johnston Islands. Western Central Pacific: Guam (Ref. 35720).
Diagnosis:  Vertebrae: 106-112. Coloration highly variable; ground color medium reddish brown, covered with brown spots and aggregations of darker spots, superimposed with discrete small white spots.
Biology:  A benthic species (Ref. 58302) found in coral reefs (Ref. 75154).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 16 August 2011 Ref. (130435)
