Family:  Botiidae (Pointface loaches), subfamily: Botiinae
Max. size:  8 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater; pH range: 7 - 7.5; dH range: 5 - 15
Distribution:  Asia: Mekong basin.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 12-12; Anal soft rays: 8-8. Distinguished by a broad black midlateral stripe and another stripe along the back in specimens smaller than about 4 cm SL; larger specimens with vertical bars connecting the two stripes and extending to the lower half of the body; fins hyaline in small specimens and marked in larger ones (Ref. 27732).
Biology:  Occurs in riffles, in clear, fast-flowing water (Ref. 27732). Found in small creek with sandy bottom and moderate current (Ref. 37841) and hill streams (Ref. 58784). Feeds on insect larvae and benthic organisms (Ref. 58784).
