Remarks The type locality is a rapid flowing, wide and shallow river with an average depth of 0.5 m, clear water, rocky bottom and large amounts of submerged vegetation. Sympatric wih Hisonotus prata at the upstream of a waterfall known as Cascata da Usina. Feeds on larvae of Diptera (Chironomidae, Simuliidae) and nymphs of Ephemeroptera (Ref. 93814).
