Remarks Inhabits coral reefs (Ref. 58534). Forms schools near inshore reefs. Feeds on shrimps, copepods, crustacean larvae and small fish (Ref. 5213). Schooling species. Piscivorous in the Mediterranean while it feeds on planktonic crustaceans elsewhere. Pelagic inshore (Ref. 127989). Inhabits coastal waters, from inshore reefs to some distance offshore. Predator. Feeds on shrimp, copepods, decapod crustacean larvae, and small fishes. Shoaling species (Ref. 9773).
