Remarks The term "triangular" refers to the triangular shape of the first dorsal fin, the first spine being distinctly longer than the others while the length of the rest of the dorsal spines decreases in regular increments. This morphological trait of the dorsal fin is rare among the nototheniids (Ref. 5179).
