Remarks General name given to all species of Family Holocentridae occurring in Philippine waters. 'baga', i.e., lungs, but also red glowing charcoal and an abscess or tumor; 'baga-baga', may mean that the fish has features which resembles either of the three but most probably refers to its color pattern.
