Remarks Males possess small hooks on the anal, pelvic, pectoral and posterior portions of dorsal fin rays. These are situated from the fourth or fifth ray until the last branched ray of anal fin, with six to eight hooks on each ray; on all rays of pelvic, dorsal and pectoral fins, with five to six on each pelvic-fin ray, six to seven on each pectoral-fin ray and four to five on each ray of dorsal fin (Ref. 83513).

Diagnosis

Diagnosed from other members of the genus in possessing nine proximal pterygiophores (including the terminal piece) on dorsal fin. Differs further from Hemibrycon species from the upper and middle Cauca rivers by having 43-46 pored lateral-line scales (Ref. 83513).
