Comments Reintroduced in 1973 and between 1978 to 1984. Species widespread in streams above 1370 m. Salmo trutta was introduced in Kaghan valley of Pakistan during the period 1918-28. Thereon it has established in river Kunkar a tributary of River Jehelam. After creation of Pakistan, this Brown trout was transferred adjoining Sivat valley. During the period 1959-62, Salmo trutta was introduced in more southernly region of quetta valley which is of a separate zoogeographic entity. Rainbow trout was imported by one Mr. Saifullah Piracha from the United States and introduced in government hatchery of quetta valley in Urak during the period 1978-84. Trout has been established in spin tangi, Wali tangi (exclusively used for supplying drinking water to Quetta valley) and Hanna lake in quetta valley. The trout waters of Quetta valley are not exploited commercially.     Ref:  FAO, 1997
