Known from Peninsular and Southeast Thailand, Salween, Maeklong, Chao Phraya and Mekong basins (Ref. 26336). Common in the Mekong mainstreams as well as its tributaries, living in pools with submerged wood and shrubs (Ref. 37770). Reported to move into tributaries during the flood season to spawn (Ref. 37770). The flesh has excellent flavour but has numerous tiny bones inside. Is commonly used to make fish balls and fish cake.
