Type locality, Bolívar, Raudal La Raya, 1 km from Río Nichare's mouth, MCNG 34830 (holotype of Phenacorhamdia provenzanoi, 6.65 cm SL). Widely distributed in the Orinoco basin (upper basin of Apure river, Cojedes, Guanare and Cinaruco rivers in the low llanos of Venezuela; in the Amazonas state, in Mavaca and Ocamo rivers, both tributaries of upper Orinoco basin; in the middle section of Orinoco basin, in the south bank tributaries: Suapure, Cuchivero, Caura and Aro rivers (Ref. 78618). |
