Comments |
Type locality of the holotype of Mormyrus kingsleyae: 'Old Calabar' (Ref. 28014); however this type-locality may have been reported in error because no other specimens have since been reported from this area, and it is more likely that the holotype originates from the Ogowe River in Gabon, where Mary Kingsley traveled in 1895 after her visit in Old Calabar (Ref. 28014, 81635, 116799). Reports from Cross River (Ref. 2915, 31256) are based on presence of the type specimen. |
