Comments

Ref. 394 provides a historical record of the occurrence of this species in the Mariannes Islands (old name for Guam) in the early 1800s. This fish was found to be common but not consumed as it was believed to be toxic. Quoy and Gaimard (Ref. 394) postulated that the toxin may come from the main food item of found in the stomach of this species, i.e., coral polyps(madrépores).
