Presently found only in the Ichamati River drainage in northeastern India. The Ichamati River is a tributary of the Hooghly River, itself part of the Ganges River drainage. It should not be confused with a tributary of the Brahmaputra River with a similar name in Bangladesh (Ref. 75197).
