Comments

Known from the Virgin River system in Utah, Nevada and Arizona. Generally common but reduced in streams subjected to impoundment and channelization. Two subspecies were recognized: as Lepidomeda mollispinis mollispinis and Lepidomeda mollispinis pratensis (protected as a threatened subspecies) (Ref. 86798). Also Ref. 5723.

Status of threat as Lepidomeda mollispinis mollispinis: threatened; status same as 1989. Criteria: 1,4 (http://fisc.er.usgs.gov/afs/). Also as Lepidomeda mollispinis pratensis: endangered; status same as 1989. Criteria: 1,4,5 (http://fisc.er.usgs.gov/afs/) (Ref. 81264).
