Known from the Iberian Peninsula (Ref. 119049), occurring in the Atlantic Guadiana drainage (Ref. 126071) and in Ruidera Lakes (Ref. 27858). Reproduces in April to July at temperatures above 18°C (Ref. 59043). Threatened due to habitat destruction and introductions of exotic predators (Ref. 79582). Also Ref. 26100.

Etymology: Salariopsis:The suffix -opsis, from the ancient Greek 'view, appearance', is added to the epithet "Salaria" to highlight its apparent, but misleading, morphological similarity to the blenniid genus Salaria Forsskål, 1775 (Ref. 128181).
