Recorded from the Plemmirio Marine reserve and the Otranto Channel. May have entered the Mediterranean via natural range expansion via the Strait of Gibraltar as opposed to human mediated introductions. An active predator, it can potentially heavily affect native communities. It is important to keep monitoring its presence and geographical expansion in the Mediterranean basin (Ref. 97737).
