Present in Lake Tanganyika and associated drainages (Ref. 41590, 43507, 45485, 47311), including the upper Lukuga (Ref. 47311) and Lubalaye River in the lower Lukuga (Ref. 93587). Also in Rusizi River basin (Ref. 41590, 87863). Reports from other systems such as Lake Kivu, Lake Edward (Ref. 47905, 56140), Lake George (Ref. 55624), Lake Albert (Ref. 41590) are misidentifications (Ref. 46152, 52331). Also Ref. 3788, 27139.
