Dear FishBase users,

The World goes mobile and so does FishBase. We plan to offer a number of FishBase functionalities as dedicated Apps in the Apple AppStore and the Android Market. We will sell these Apps at 0.99 US$ and use the income to support and further develop FishBase, which will remain permanently free of charge at www.fishbase.org. This step is necessary, because raising 0.5 million US$ per year through research projects becomes more and more difficult. These are the cost for data encoding, programming and serving of FishBase, there is no profit involved.

We have designed the Apps to be fun to use. The first App is the Fish Quiz, available for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad at iTunes App Store.

Fish Quiz is now available in the Android Market.
