Remark: Search for the word "guapote" on the above web page, under the section "Pandan Canal (14/9/2000)", to see 2 photos of juveniles. I caught larger adult specimens on other occasions. This species was introduced via the aquarium trade. I have so far caught it only in the Pandan canal, which is fresh upriver and oligohaline near the sea, but it is very common in that canal. Tends to lurk near water plants. There are reports from anglers that it is also found in the Pandan Reservoir, which is beside the canal.
