Remark: I first caught Cichlasoma urophthalmus in Singapore in 2000, by which time it was already well established in many localities all around Singapore (egs: Punggol Pond, Lower Seletar Reservoir, Upper Seletar Reservoir, Bishan Park Pond, Yishun Stormwater Pond, Khatib Bongsu river, Sentosa Island). It is found in freshwater reservoirs, ponds and drains, tidal canals and rivers, mangrove-lined estuaries, and even in the sea along the costs, being caught by anglers fishing from jetties and breakwaters.
