Max. size:  5 cm TL (male/unsexed); 7 cm TL (female)
Environment:  pelagic; freshwater; depth range 0 - 1 m,
Distribution:  Central America: Papaloapan ecoregion in Mexico.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits slow to fast-moving water. Mainly carnivorous, feeding on insects, insect larvae, small crustaceans and planktonic invertebrates (Ref. 89993). Found along with Xiphophorus hellerii and Poecilia mexicana.
