Environment:  bathydemersal; marine; depth range 2710 - 4000 m
Distribution:  Eastern Pacific.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 110-114; Anal soft rays: 87-99; Vertebrae: 68-69. This species is distinguished by the following characters: D 110-114; A 87-99; total vertebrae 68-69; extensive squamation on opercle, preopercle and occiput; transversal scale rows 35-40 on trunk above beginning of anal fin; otolith elongate (OL:OH = 1.65-1.75), with inner face more strongly convex than outer one (Ref. 126178).
Biology:  Rare species (Ref. 34024). Reproductive strategy possibly similar to other members of this family featuring oviparity, with oval pelagic eggs floating in a gelatinous mass (Ref. 205).
