This species is distinguished from its congeners of Iran by the following set of characters, none of which are unique: barbels only one pair; snout rounded; lateral line scales 39-44; scales rows between lateral line and dorsal-fin origin 6-8 and between lateral line and anal-fin origin 5-8; gill rakers on the first gill arch 19-22; mouth small and transverse; prepelvic length 53-56 %SL; snout length 31-39 %SL; short barbel, 10-12% HL (Ref. 129198). |
| Occurs in large streams and is more frequent in the main flow of large rivers. Its type locality, the Nam River has a temperatureof 24°C, with pH 7.1 and conductivity of 0.675 μS,. The current was medium to fast, river width about 2-17 m, with maximum depth up to 1.5 m, the shore is grassy, and with gravel as stream-bed. Associated fishes found in the type locality were Capoeta buhsei, Alburnoides coadi, Barbus miliaris, Squalius namak, Oncorhynchus mykiss, and Paracobitis malapterura (Ref. 129198). |
