Environment:  benthopelagic; marine; depth range 320 - 360 m
Distribution:  Northwestern Pacific, Japan.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 10-12; Vertebrae: 109-135. The species of Ateleopus is distinguished by the following set of characters: 94-130 anal+caudal-fin rays; 11-13 gill rakers; 109-135 vertebrae (Ref. 122089).
Biology:  Occur over sandy-muddy bottoms (Ref. 122089).
