Remarks 'Corégone', from Latin name 'Coregonus', i.e., angle-eye, coined by Artedi from the Greek words meaning pupil of the eye and angle (Ref. 1998); 'cisco' is a short form of Canadian French term for this type of salmonid, 'ciscoette' (p. 243 in Ref. 11978).
